Leadership tips, career development advice and life stories from across travel are the focus of a TTG Media conference taking place at WTM London
Here’s to Future Days – the TTG Tomorrow’s Travel Leaders conference at WTM will hear from speakers including John Bevan, chief executive of dnata travel Europe, and Paul Frampton-Calero, chief executive of start-up Tink Labs, who will each be sharing their insight, knowledge and career stories.
Taking place on the morning of Wednesday, November 7, the free event is for all young people working in travel today aspiring to be a future leader tomorrow.
Supported by Gold Medal and Travel 2, the event builds on the success of TTG’s 30 Under 30. Every year since 2012, TTG Media has picked out 30 young people working in the travel industry in the UK or Ireland who it anticipates being future leaders of the industry.
Former TTG 30 Under 30 members speaking at the event will include Iain Powell, head of trade sales at Saga Cruises & Holidays, and Jamie-Lee Abtar, business development manager for the Caribbean Tourism Organisation in the UK.
“Insightful and motivating”
“Great day, tailored to people under the age of 30, which is exactly what the industry needs.”
“The day was extremely insightful and motivating. I took a lot of notes and couldn’t wait to get back to work. It’s great hearing from the industry experts – I wish there were more events like this!”
“A great, well-organised day – thanks to the speakers for their honesty and inspiration.”
The TTG Tomorrow’s Travel Leaders conference has shared the learning and the benefits of the TTG 30 Under 30 further since 2014, featuring speakers ranging from Peter Long, then chief executive of Tui, to Bruce Poon Tip, founder and chief executive of G Adventures.
The event will be chaired by TTG Media’s managing director Daniel Pearce and group editor Pippa Jacks.
Pearce said: “We run many different initiatives and projects across our media output at TTG Media, but nothing is quite as fulfilling as the TTG 30 Under 30 and the Tomorrow’s Travel Leaders conference.
“It’s brilliant to see many of our 30 Under 30 members and attendees at the conference go on to build their careers further in travel, with many moving into senior positions.
“Since WTM London invited us to move the event into ExCeL in 2017, the conference has generated more excitement and shared even more learning. I would urge all young people at WTM London working in the travel industry, aspiring to be a business leader of tomorrow, to find space in their diary for the event.”
The conference will also feature the release of exclusive new research from TTG Media on the attitude of young people to working in travel today, while details of TTG Media’s new TTG 30 Under 30 programme for 2019 will also be revealed.
The importance of looking after yourself while developing a career or a business will be a focus for entrepreneur Papillon Luck, a keynote speaker at the event.
The founder and chief executive of wellness travel business 15th Degree, Luck will share her own career story. Described as a “serial innovator and visionary early adopter”, she began her business life working in investment banking and with start-up hedge funds.
It was here, while working alongside senior executives who struggled to manage their health while travelling, that she saw the opportunity for 15th Degree.
Luck envisaged a product that would effectively give travellers the gift of time, developing a set of natural food supplements that address all factors causing travellers fatigue, such as poor cognition, not enough rest, low energy and a weak immune system.
For a select number of global business travellers, Luck also runs her exclusive Fit to Fly executive coaching programme.
The TTG Tomorrow’s Travel Leaders conference at WTM London, supported by Gold Medal and Travel 2, takes place in Platinum Suites 3 and 4 at ExCeL from 9.30am to 12.30pm on November 7.
The event is free to attend.
