How did you end up in your current role?

I started my career at Tui as an apprentice in 2009. During my nine years with the company, I climbed the ranks and became assistant store manager and eventually deputy manager. When I saw the position of partnerships development manager at Holiday Extras, I thought it was a fantastic opportunity,  so I just went for it.

What are your daily responsibilities at Holiday Extras?

I’m responsible for managing Holiday Extras’ Tui and Thomas Cook accounts, looking after incentives, social media, retail training and development and working with the digital team on our website.

Proudest moment of your career?

Being selected for my current role. It’s a privilege to manage these accounts, and ultimately guide them to further success.

What do you love most about travel?

I love everything about it – exploring new places and meeting new people. I don’t believe you can sell anything better than a dream to someone, and travel is a dream.

Where’s on your bucket list?

Thailand! I love elephants, so it would be amazing to see them.

How did you hear about the TTG 30 under 30 programme?

Our head of insurance, Paul Paddock, was in the 30 under 30 class of 2012/13 and told me when I joined Holiday Extras that it was a good initiative to be a part of.

What are you looking to glean from the TTG 30 Under 30 programme?

It’s all about networking for me. I work heavily in the retail space, but I’d like to do more online. I’ve enjoyed speaking with my peers and being inspired by their knowledge of the industry.

Where do you see yourself in the next 5-10 years?

I’d like to stay with Holiday Extras, eventually taking on a more senior role in partnerships.

Advice for young people starting a career in travel?
Throw yourself into it! And if you’re not sure about the next steps, ask someone. There is always someone that will help you succeed.
