How did you end up in your current role?

During my final year at Manchester Metropolitan University, I began interning at STA Travel. After I graduated with a degree in International Business, I joined the company full time as the B2B product and marketing manager. I’m one of the youngest people to sit on the company’s senior leadership board.

What is your day to day responsibilities?

Every day is different. One minute I can be looking after budgets, managing all paid and organic social media channels and campaigns, fixing the website when it breaks and working alongside the STA Global Product team to source new product and build relationships with key suppliers. Being busy is good for me, as I tend to get bored very quickly.

What do you love most about working in travel?

I love meeting people and hearing stories you’d never hear if you didn’t travel yourself. I recently flew to Argentina for six days in March on an incentive trip. It was great as I got to spend time exploring the old town of Buenos Aires.

Where’s on your bucket list?

It was Canada, but I visited friends there in May. I’d also love to do the east coast of Australia, where I have family.

Proudest moment of your career?

Being nominated to be on the senior leadership team and becoming the youngest manager in the company. I’ve never had any problems with having this responsibility at a young age. However, the way you carry yourself is very important. If you’ve got the skills to back your position up, then things shouldn’t be an issue.

Where do you see yourself in the next 5-10 years?

Ideally, in a marketing director role at STA. Alternatively, doing marketing for an airline or hospitality group.

What are you looking to glean from the 30 Under 30 programme?

Meeting people from outside my company in a relaxed setting where I can converse freely and hear about how people got to where they are now.

What inspires you?
My team, my mum and the knowledge that you can always do things a little better.

Advice for young people in travel?

Talk to people and listen to their advice, but make your own judgements in the end.
