The Ambassador Cruise Line vessel that was involved in a collision with a container vessel in Cape Town last week has now resumed its world cruise.
After safety inspections were carried out on the 1,400-passenger ship, Ambience was cleared to sail to its next port of call Tristan da Cunha in St Helena on Friday.
However, the line said despite passing the necessary checks, the ship’s captain chose to delay departure until Saturday (6 April) when the forecast was “more favourable”.
An Ambassador spokesperson said: “We have time in hand to make Tristan de Cunha as per schedule on Wednesday 10 April.”
No injuries were reported following the collision and passengers were able to disembark the ship on Friday morning soon after the incident.
The ship is currently operating a Grand Round the World Cruise that is scheduled to finish in Tilbury on 5 May.
The line confirmed the incident had not affected the remainder of the ship’s itinerary.
