Travel Counsellors has reported cruise bookings now represent nearly 15% of all leisure sales following a bookings spike last month.
Last month, Travel Counsellors’ UK leisure travel sales hit £60m – up 20% year on year – making it the best February in the homeworking company’s 30-year history.
However, cruise bookings jumped by almost 40% over the same month after a bumper January that saw cruise sales top £10 million.
In February, luxury cruises were among the top three holiday types booked by Travel Counsellors.
Global sales director Jim Eastwood said: “In recent weeks we’ve seen wave upon wave of cruise bookings, whether that’s travellers wishing to holiday at sea, or sightsee on river sailings.
“Over half of our 1,500 strong UK Travel Counsellors community made cruise bookings last year, and we’re delighted to see this momentum continue at full speed into 2024.”
Travel Counsellors were encouraged to accumulate entries into a competition to win a spot on one of two luxury getaways to Antigua and a Bali-Singapore twin centre trip to maintain the company’s strong peaks performance.
The more bookings a Travel Counsellor made during the month, the more competition entries they gained. More than 150 Travel Counsellor business owners celebrated their best-ever month in February.
Eastwood continued: "Maintaining motivation after a bumper January Peaks period takes so much more than a spotlight on sales figures.
“It’s truly based on a focus on our people and how we can show genuine care and provide constant support to enable them to be the very best they can be, provide the very best service to their customers, and enjoy the best February they’ve ever had as a Travel Counsellor.”
