Cruise industry veteran Massimo Brancaleoni, who joined Silversea last year, has been promoted to a newly created expanded role with the line with a view to strengthening its brand position in the market.
Brancaleoni, who joined Silversea as senior vice-president, global sales in January 2023 from a worldwide sales role at Costa Cruises, will take on an additional brief for revenue at the ultra-luxury line.
During his nearly 30 years in the cruise sector, Brancaleoni has held a succession of executive roles within cruise organisations operating throughout Europe and Asia spanning the mass market as well as the luxury and expedition segments.
Silversea said Brancaleoni "had proven success" leading large teams and transformation commercial organisations, as well as developing and growing profitable strategies on a global scale.
In his new role, he will continue to report into Silversea president Barbara Muckermann, who said Brancaleoni would be tasked with honing Silversea’s strategic approach to bolstering the brand’s position as "the industry’s leading luxury travel brand".
"Since joining Silversea in January 2023, Massimo has strengthened our global sales team, contributing to our unprecedented success with his strategic mindset and laser-sharp focus on results," Muckermann added.
Brancaleoni said: “I look forward to building on our successes in 2024 and beyond, optimising the synergy between our global sales and revenue departments for the benefit of our brand and our valued travel advisors and capitalising on the luxury travel market’s growth and potential."
