Why these three Arctic destinations should be top of your clients’ summer wish lists

Invite clients to journey through some of the most pristine wilderness in the world in the Canadian High Arctic. There are 35,563 islands in the Canadian Arctic Archipelago, and the region is one of the world’s least disturbed marine ecosystems, home to spectacular wildlife such as polar bears, ringed seals, and bowhead, narwhal and beluga whales.

Clients can wind through the icy channels of the Northwest Passage as they retrace the historic Franklin Expedition, and will be welcomed by vibrant indigenous communities, who share their customs, cuisine and ways of life. While sparsely populated, the region is rich in Inuit culture, especially in Nunavut.

Spitsbergen

Spitsbergen, known as the “wildlife capital of the Arctic”, is the largest island in Norway’s Svalbard archipelago. Located about 1,300km from the North Pole, Spitsbergen is dark four months of the year, but when the sun returns in April the days lengthen, until June when the sun never sets. It’s this near-constant light that creates the perfect conditions to spot polar bears, walruses, reindeer, arctic foxes, beluga whales, seals and seabirds, against a backdrop of snow-capped mountains, glaciers and fjords.
