British Airways will suspend Heathrow-Abu Dhabi flights for nearly seven months next year owing to issues with the engines fitted to the aircraft it uses to operate the route.
BA has cancelled all LHR-AUH flights departing from 30 March to 25 October 2025. Passengers will be able to fly to Abu Dhabi with BA from Gatwick, or from Heathrow to Dubai.
The airline has apologised, and confirmed it is offering passengers same-day rebooking options with other airlines. Affected passengers can also request full refunds.
In a statement, BA pinned the cancellations on ongoing issues with the Rolls-Royce Trent 1000 engines fitted to its Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft, namely delivery of engines and parts.
"We’ve taken this action because we do not believe the issue will be solved quickly, and we want to offer our customers the certainty they deserve for their travel plans," said BA.
"We’ve apologised to those affected and are able to offer the vast majority a flight the same day with British Airways or one of our partner airlines.
"We continue to work closely with Rolls-Royce to ensure the company is aware of the impact its issues are having on our schedule and customers, and seek reassurance of a prompt and reliable solution."
