Air Canada will operate a Heathrow-Delhi service next winter, with British Airways also increasing frequency to the Indian capital.
Air Canada will fly Calgary-Heathrow-Delhi on the same aircraft, aiming mainly at the Indian diaspora in western Canada.
Last winter, Air Canada offered a similar service via Heathrow to Mumbai and had the right to sell tickets from Heathrow to India in the UK. Air Canada has the same permission for the Delhi flight.
The daily Delhi service, on a Boeing 787, starts on 27 October, continuing until 29 March, with a midday departure from Heathrow arriving 02.25 and an 06.45 departure from Delhi arriving at 11.20.
Mark Galardo, the airline’s executive vice president – revenue and network planning, said:
“With new non-stop flights from Toronto to Mumbai, the addition of new flights to Delhi from western Canada via London Heathrow, together with the unparalleled connectivity from our robust North American network, we are solidifying Air Canada as the leading airline offering the most travel options between Canada and India.”
Meanwhile, British Airways will add a third Heathrow-Delhi frequency from 20 April 2025. The extra frequency is provisionally timed from a 16.30 departure from London, arriving at 05.35. The 07.40 departure from Delhi returns to London at 12.50.
Neil Chernoff, BA’s chief planning and strategy officer, said: “This is a milestone year for us at British Airways as we celebrate 100 years of flying to India.”
