EasyJet will base another aircraft in Glasgow this summer, its sixth, and launch new routes to Enfidha in Tunisia and Larnaca in Cyprus.
The additional aircraft will see easyJet operate its largest-ever Scottish flying programme this summer, offering 2.2 million seats from Glasgow.
Flights to Enfidha took off on Thursday (2 May), with easyJet set to operate the route twice-a-week on Thurdays and Sundays throughout the year.
A new Larnaca route, meanwhile, will get under way on Saturday (4 May) operating on Tuesdays and Saturdays throughout the summer.
Ali Gayward, easyJet’s UK country manager, said the decision to add a sixth aircraft to the airline’s Glasgow fleet was testament to its commitment to the Scottish market.
Glasgow airport managing director Mark Beveridge said the launch would support 40 new jobs at the airport.
"It has been nearly 30 years since easyJet’s first-ever flight touched down in Glasgow and in the ensuing years the relationship between airline and airport has gone from strength to strength," he said.
"Today, we welcome the addition of a sixth aircraft to easyJet’s Glasgow-based fleet, which is a significant investment and underlines the airline’s commitment to delivering growth at our airport.
"This additional aircraft will help deliver even more choice and convenience for the two million passengers who choose to travel with easyJet from our airport each year."
