EasyJet is ramping up its focus on the northern lights in its new winter schedule, with new flights and packages to Norway and extra services to Iceland.
The airline and operator on Tuesday (11 June) unveiled its largest-ever programme of new routes, with 60 new services set to take off this coming winter – more than half of which (33) will launch from 11 UK airports.
From the UK, the main destinations of note are Norway and Iceland, as well as winter sun favourites like Tunisia, Morocco and Turkey.
Norway’s Tromso will see the highest number of new easyJet services this winter, with twice-weekly flights launching from Gatwick on 11 November, Manchester on 19 November and Bristol on 5 December.
EasyJet’s new Gatwick flights will operate on Mondays and Fridays, Manchester services on Tuesdays and Saturdays, and Bristol flights on Thursdays and Sundays.
Another addition is a year-round Gatwick-Strasbourg route, a new French destination for easyJet. It will operate the route three-times-a-week on Mondays, Fridays and Sundays.
“We’re delighted to be releasing an incredible range of new routes today for this winter, with 33 new services now available from 11 airports across the UK,” said easyJet country manager Ali Gayward.
Gayward highlighted Tromso and Strasbourg as eye-catching additions, adding easyJet flights and holidays were now available for more destinations than ever – including several brand new ones.
Sticking with the northern lights focus, easyJet will launch two new Iceland routes; Manchester-Akureyri will take off on 12 November, while a Birmingham-Reykjavik service will get under way on 3 December operating through the winter on Tuesdays and Saturdays.
For those seeking winter sun, Tunisia’s Djerba will be served by easyJet twice-a-week this winter from Luton and Manchester, with flights on Mondays and Fridays starting from 11 November.
Morocco, meanwhile, will gain new services from Birmingham, Bristol, Liverpool and Glasgow.
Flights to Marrakech will depart easyJet’s new Birmingham base on 1 December, operating on Wednesdays and Sundays, while twice-weekly services from Glasgow and Liverpool will start on 11 November and 13 November respectively. Belfast-Marrakech flights will also take off from Belfast International on 3 November, operating on Wednesdays and Sundays.
Three-times-weekly services from Bristol to Agadir, meanwhile, will get under way on 27 October operating on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays. Bristol will also gain a new twice-weekly Istanbul service starting from 4 November.
Among dozens of other additions to its network, easyJet has added services to destinations across Europe, including to France, Switzerland, Spain, Czech Republic, Malta and Germany. Fares lead in from £26.99pp to £78.99pp.
A seven-night easyJet holidays stay at the three-star Luna Holiday Complex in Malta on a self-catering basis leads in from £212pp. All easyJet holidays packages include 23kg luggage, airport transfers and return flights.
