Off Broadway Travel’s Natalie Bennett has brought the agency’s clients together for a weekly travel-themed Facebook Live quiz during the coronavirus lockdown. She tells TTG how, with tips for agencies looking to follow suit
Off Broadway Travel’s plan to launch a quiz night for its clients in a local Hertfordshire pub could have been thwarted by the coronavirus crisis, but instead of postponing the inaugural event the team decided to host it on Facebook Live instead.
“Our quiz is purely for fun – there’s no winner – and for keeping in contact with clients, because maintaining contact is the most important thing at the moment,” says personal travel specialist Natalie Bennett, who is coordinating the initiative.
With the quiz being moved online it’s become family friendly; something that paid dividends when families were one of almost 30 households to tune in live on Facebook for the first instalment in the series on 29 March (the quizzes are currently taking place every Sunday afternoon).
The Global Travel Group member agency is curating three rounds of 10 questions for each quiz it runs, some including picture-based challenges, and is making sure they’re bringing in elements of fun at every opportunity.
“I wore a different hat for each round of the quiz and then at the end of the Facebook Live, we asked a bonus question about what type of hat I was wearing for the first round,” laughs Bennett.
“There’s too much seriousness at the moment and people want to lose themselves for a bit, so the quiz can be informative – ours is – but it’s important to make it fun and stay true to who you are as a company,” she adds.
The other questions were general knowledge and based on travel, for example participants were asked to identify the Christ the Redeemer statue in Rio de Janeiro and the biggest and smallest countries in the world.
“It was great to see people writing comments during the quiz, enjoying it and chatting about the questions, as well as chatting amongst themselves,” says Bennett.
So far, Off Broadway Travel hasn’t promoted its quiz outside the realm of Facebook, but it’s early days yet. Bennett says she has plans to draw in participants by sending out a marketing email, and she will also post about it in the Welwyn Village News Facebook group.
Bennett is certain the agency will continue the Off Broadway Travel quiz once the UK comes out of lockdown but is undecided about whether it will make its pub debut or remain online – watch this space.
