Agents enjoy ‘best ever fam trip’ with HX Hurtigruten Expeditions
16 agents won an “invaluable”, “ultimate bucket list” fam trip to the Galapagos Islands with HX Hurtigruten Expeditions earlier this year, returning from their trip in September. We hear from the lucky attendees what made this trip just so special, with one winner even describing it as one of the best experiences of her life!

‘Once-in-a-lifetime experience’
Agents had to make a booking between January and April to be entered into a draw for a coveted spot on the Galapagos Islands fam, which incorporated the line’s ‘In Darwin’s Footsteps’ tour and included two nights at the JW Marriott Quito and six nights onboard MS Santa Cruz II.
A typical day on the fam featured waking up to light snacks in the ship’s Library before joining the Expedition Team for a power walk to take in wildlife like playful sea lions and striking blue footed boobies. Boat rides were available for those who didn’t fancy walking. The group would then return for a hearty breakfast in the Beagle restaurant, refuelling for the adventures to come.
The group would then gather their wetsuits, snorkelling gear and life jackets for the morning snorkelling session, or kayaking as an alternative. There was also a glass-bottomed boat experience for those wanting to stay dry. Next, there would be free time onboard, where agents could take part in a Citizen Science project such as collecting cloud data to contribute to NASA’s research efforts.
Over a relaxed lunch the group would discuss the morning’s highlights – sea turtles, marble rays, and the iconic marine iguanas – while reviewing the menu for dinner.
The afternoon would often see a dry landing, such as on San Cristobal Island to visit the Centro de Crianza de Tortugas Terrestres – a tortoise breeding centre. Back onboard again, the group was free to relax on deck in the hot tubs before joining the expedition leader in the Explorer Bar for a briefing on the following day’s adventures.
Dinner was taken a la carte in Beagle, before some of the guests convened for cards in the bar and the rest returned to their cabins.
