Iberostar hit on a winning formula in the Caribbean, enhancing the well-established all-inclusive scene with thoughtful family-focused resorts. Now, it is unveiling the same premium concept in Majorca.
The fully transformed Albuferas Beachfront Resort is on a prime stretch of sand in Majorca, and the new resort, completely revamped for 2023, spans two hotels in a privileged setting.
The hotels have direct access to five-kilometre Playa de Muro, which was voted the best beach in Spain and the third best in Europe by Tripadvisor users in 2022.
They are also surrounded by the Albufera Natural Park – a bird nature reserve which is the largest and most important wetland habitat in the Balearic Islands and can be explored by foot or on bikes.
Iberostar Selection Albufera Park is specially designed for family holidays, while the Iberostar Selection Albufera Playa will appeal to a broad range of guests with its opportunities to either relax or be active.
Guests are allowed access to the shared facilities across both hotels, which embrace a total nine restaurants and bars. There are seven swimming pools – one of which is dedicated to children and another exclusive to the Star Prestige adult-only rooftop zone and surrounded by Balinese beds.
The resort has a particularly strong culinary focus under its all-inclusive tariff. Three speciality restaurants are new - Martinete, serving up Spanish tapas; Mexican tacos house Nopal and Greek-inspired Kiknos.
Across all its restaurants Iberostar’s Honest Food concept puts the spotlight on natural, healthy local products.

The makeover has given a fresh and modern look to Iberostar Selection Albufera Park and Iberostar Selection Albufera Playa.
Colours, textures and materials in the new elegant rooms at the hotels have been inspired by the natural surroundings of the Mediterranean and Albufera Natural Park. It’s also a responsible refurbishment with sustainable materials.
Swim-up rooms and a sea view rooftop pool with loungers are new among the choice across the resorts, which also includes a heated indoor pool connected to the spa.
The common areas including the lobby and rooftop have also been given a makeover and the landscaped gardens now incorporate native species and special feature trees.
Besides its reimagined spacious rooms with terraces, Albufera Park has an enlarged children’s pool where youngsters can enjoy Aquafun games.
Iberostar’s kids and teens activity programme Star Camp has also been reinvented at the hotel so they will be kept busy with sessions from face painting to water polo to archery.
Parents needn’t worry about buffets laden with junk foods as healthy and tasty foods are the focus in the restaurants. And when it’s time for treats, it’s good to know takeaways from the Ice Dream parlour are included.
When it comes to sustainability, Iberostar goes way beyond outlawing plastic drinking straws. As part of its efforts to reduce CO2 emissions, solar panels help the hotels produce their own electricity and hot water.
The wood and wallpaper used in the room upgrades were produced from eco-friendly materials and the pools refurbished with recycled materials. The waste created by the renovation is being either reused, donated or recycled. And, as you would expect, the resorts are also single-use plastic free.
In the restaurants, seafood will be 100% responsibly sourced by 2025 but the cleverest innovation is Winnow, an artificial intelligence food-monitoring system to help reduce waste.
