One of andBeyond’s lodges in Africa has reopened following a complete nine-month rebuild.
The Sossusvlei Desert Lodge, situated in 180,000 hectares of the Namib Desert in Namibia, has benefited from a full rebuild and redesign.
It closed in January this year to allow for the building works, which utilise sustainable technology and include glass-fronted suites, enlarged stargazing skylights, private plunge pools and outdoor showers.
The interiors have been inspired by the desert and use natural materials such as agate and quartz.
andBeyond said it has partnered with Namibian artisans wherever possible to create bespoke wool wall hangings and rugs for the lodge.
A selection of adventures available from the lodge now include quad-bikes, helicopter flights and hot air ballooning experiences.
The Sossusvlei Desert Lodge initially opened in 1999 and is the only andBeyond lodge in Namibia.
