Eco-resort Bawah Reserve in Indonesia is to reopen in September 2022 after a closure of more than two years.
The resort in the Anambas Islands, off the eastern coast of Malaysia, has undergone a major refurbishment, including the creation of the Elang Private Residence on a new island, which will open on 1 November. The rest of the resort will also feature renovated villas and an enhanced sustainability programme.
Elang will offer an adults-only private island experience for groups of up to 20 people staying in six new cliffside lodges with access to a private beach, plus restaurant and bar, beach house, spa, activities lawn and saltwater infinity pool.
The lodges have been created using recycled natural materials and will include butler service and balconies with ocean views.
On the main island, Bawah is offering two new types of accommodation designed for groups and families: the two-bedroom infinity pool villa and the two-bedroom garden pool villa.
The resort also features 11 overwater bungalows which have been redesigned and refurbished.
Guests can learn about the island’s sustainability initiatives during their stays, including tours of the new floating solar farm, which powers the resort.
Bawah Reserve is a group of six islands in Indonesia’s Riau Archipelago, located around 160 nautical miles from Singapore, and is reached via private seaplane.
