The airline has spent a total of £50 million on upgrading its facilities at JFK’s Terminal 7, including a new lounge for First customers, which opened in October 2018.

BA said the new 2,050sqm Club facility would be its “flagship US lounge”, which will serve passengers flying on the carrier’s transatlantic flights between New York and London.

The lounge includes workstations, an entertainment room featuring the latest audio-visual technology from Sony, and a reopened Elemis Spa.

Passengers can take advantage of a pre-flight menu at the lounge’s “brasserie-style” dining room, while the Quaich Bar will offer wines and cocktails, and even a beer specifically brewed for BA by BrewDog called Speedbird 100.

Carolina Martinoli, BA’s director of brand and customer experience, said: “JFK airport is like a second home to Heathrow so it’s great to mark the final step in our significant customer investment with the opening of our new Club and First lounges.”

BA is continuing to open new airport lounges at key airports after unveiling new facilities at Rome Fiumicino and Aberdeen during 2018.
