'Business as usual,' says Scenic Group as Nick Hughes departs

Scenic Group has insisted it will be business as usual for agents working with its brands following the sudden departure of sales director Nick Hughes.

Hughes was appointed last November and took up his role earlier this year

Scenic named Hughes director of sales, partnerships and strategic growth last November, with oversight for its Scenic and Emerald Cruises brands.

He joined the business from Princess Cruises, where he was sales director, earlier this year. Prior to joining Princess, Hughes held senior roles with dnata’s UK tour operator brands Gold Medal/Travel2 and Attraction World.

Earlier this year, in interview with TTG, he spoke openly about his efforts to restructure and grow the group’s trade operation, which then accounted for around 20% of Scenic’s business.

"We can confirm that Nick Hughes has left the Scenic Group with immediate effect," said a Scenic Group spokesperson. "We thank Nick for his time with the business and wish him well in his future endeavours."

The spokesperson added: "While we review the current situation, the wider UK leadership team will ensure all operations continue in a business-as-usual way and we remain focused on supporting our valued agent partners as we head into the busy Wave period."
