Chiva-Som has announced the launch of a new wellness resort in Qatar next year.
To complement its flagship Hua Hin site in Thailand, Chiva-Som’s Zulal Wellness Resort is set to open in the second quarter of 2020.
It will cover 280,000 square metres and is about one hour’s drive from Qatar’s capital, Doha.
Developers Msheireb Properties were inspired by Zulal – “purified water” – when they designed the resort.
The cuisine, architecture and services at Zulal have been inspired by the local heritage in order to showcase the culture in Qatar.
Zulal will also cater for all ages, with 120 family rooms or suites and dedicated children’s activities on offer.
There will also be an adjacent resort for adults-only with 60 suites and villas.
“We are excited and proud to have created something completely new with Zulal Wellness Resort, which is the first in the world to showcase Traditional Arabic Integrative Medicine (TAIM), whilst retaining the Chiva-Som DNA at every touchpoint,” chairman and chief executive of Chiva-Som International Health Resort, Krip Rojanastien, said.
“The ability to serve families in particular offers guests great flexibility, and we hope it will inspire wellness for a new generation.”
Acting chief executive of Msheireb Properties, Ali Al Kuwari, added: “Our mission as a national real estate developer is to build communities and developments that enrich and enhance the way people live, work and thrive, while remaining true to our Qatari and Arabic cultural heritage.”
Chiva-Som’s Hua Hin resort, which opened in 1995, has won multiple awards such as Thailand’s Best Wellness Retreat in the World Spa Awards 2018.
