Claridge’s in central London is to unveil its Christmas tree this week, designed this year by Kim Jones from iconic fashion house Dior.
Jones, who is artistic director of Dior’s men’s collections, has designed the Mayfair hotel’s tree this year, which is called the Celestial Snow Globe and also features holographic projections.
Jones said: “It is a great honour for me to design the Christmas tree for Claridge’s and thus bring Dior, London and the Christmas spirit together in this iconic place.”
Claridge’s festive tree, located in its lobby, has been become a landmark in the UK capital and each year the property invites a guest designer to “reinterpret the tree in their own distinctive style”.
Paddy McKillen, Claridge’s co-owner, added: “Christmas has always been a truly special time of the year for us here at Claridge’s, and we are delighted, for the first time in many years, to welcome a home-grown designer to create our illustrious tree.”
Meanwhile sister hotel The Connaught, also in Mayfair, has unveiled its 2021 Christmas tree, which has been designed by London-based artistic duo Annie Morris and Idris Khan.
The Connaught’s nine-metre-high tree is located outside the hotel in Mount Street and is surrounded by three interpretations of Morris’ Stack sculptures.
Both Claridge’s and The Connaught are part of the Maybourne Hotel Group.
