Club Med Tignes is the latest ski-in, ski-out resort to be added to the luxury operator’s all-inclusive Alpine destinations.

Located at 2,100 metres above sea level, it has 430 rooms, two restaurants, a swimming pool, spa and wellness area, as well as a wide range of winter sports including skiing, glacier hiking, snowshoeing, fat-biking, bob-sleighing, sledging and a first for Club Med, scuba diving beneath the ice of a frozen lake.

“This is a new chapter in Tignes as we have been here since 1958”, said Henri Giscard d’Estaing, president of Club Med. “We’re excited to welcome guests to this exceptional premium resort as Club Med moves to become a global leader of premium all-inclusive holidays for families and active couples.”

Family-friendly selling points for the resort include ski lessons for children aged four and above, a kids’ club, babysitting service and supervised skiing and snowboarding for teenagers.

The all-inclusive concept adopted at Club Med Tignes means ski passes are given to guests on arrival, ski lessons don’t incur an additional cost and meals, plus all drinks, including alcoholic beverages, are included in the price of the holiday.

Club Med has had sustainability in mind while developing the resort, with the new property’s construction BREEAM-certified, its rooftops supporting 150 solar panels and a sustainability plan that includes the omission of plastic bottles in resort, a strict food waste reduction system and recycling process for old ski equipment.

Club Med Tignes’ interiors have been designed by Studio Jean-Philippe Nuel Architecture and Design, drawing on the heritage of the surrounding mountains and featuring collaborations with French street artist and snowboarder Lucas Beaufort.

This opening comes as Club Med reports 53% of people polled said they were considering a different destination for their winter sports holidays, with France coming out top as the best choice when it comes to value for money.

Sales of Club Med’s French resorts are up 36% compared to this time last year, with Tignes one of the best-selling destinations.

In addition, 60% of frequent skiers are planning to spend more on their holidays in the upcoming months, despite the cost-of-living crisis, according to the report.

Nicolas Bresch, managing director UK and Nordics at Club Med, commented: “With prices and currencies fluctuating in these uncertain times, we’ve made a promise to our customers and are guaranteeing that the price of their stay will not change after booking.”

“We believe the all-inclusive ski holiday model will be more attractive than ever given this, with customers feeling safe in the knowledge that they are not going to be hit with lots of additional costs after booking,” he added.

Club Med Val d’Isere is also due to open this month in the French Alps, further bolstering the operator’s winter sports offering in the region.
