Construction on a five-star hotel at the Ombria Resort in the Algarve has begun.
Although ground excavations and geothermal system works have been ongoing since 2018, building work has now started on the Viceroy in the Ombria Resort.
Situated in the resort, which is over 150 hectares eight kilometres north of Loule, the hotel will feature 76 luxury guestrooms and suites.
It has been designed by luxury architects WATG in partnership with Portuguese architects Promontorio.
Facilities at the resort include a spa, healthcare and fitness services, restaurants and bars, a kids’ zone, astronomical observatory, conference centre and indoor and outdoor swimming pools.
The first phase of the resort is scheduled to open in early 2022.
“Pre-sales of the Viceroy residences started earlier this year and we have seen strong interest and sales, with the official launch expected imminently,” said Joao Richard Costa, director of sales and marketing for the Ombria Resort.
“We have recognised a high demand for high-end new-build properties in the Algarve, as property owners are inherently looking for three things – location, security and peace of mind – and Portugal, and particularly the Algarve, continues to deliver on all fronts."
