Iconic Luxury Hotels plans global expansion

The global expansion will see Hotel Excelsior Venice Lido Resort in Italy join the brand, and become the first of a number of properties under the umbrella.

As well as the 196-room hotel, which reopened post-lockdown on 11 July, Iconic Luxury Hotels will also expand to include a new integrated resort development in Mykonos, Greece and Palm House Hotel in Palm Beach, Florida. Both will join the brand in 2021.

The existing UK portfolio also includes The Lygon Arms and 11 Cadogan Gardens, while The Mayfair Town House in London will also become part of the collection when it opens in late 2020.

The brand is part of L+R Hotels, which owns a significant portfolio of hotels worldwide including Hotel Excelsior, which it will now market as part of Iconic Luxury Hotels.

“We have ambitious plans for international growth and it’s an honour to welcome these hotels to start that journey,” said Petra Deuter, newly appointed executive director for Iconic Luxury Hotels – International, and responsible for the performance and growth of the portfolio outside of the UK.

The hotel has been the home of the Venice International Film Festival since 1932, with the event set to go ahead this year from 2-12 September.

Hotel Excelsior is a 15-minute boat ride from the heart of Venice and also features the Elimar Beach Bar and Restaurant, the Blue Bar, Pool Bar, as well as private beach cabanas.

Not only is Hotel Excelsior a perfect self-contained resort, but it’s so close to the historic city of Venice for those wishing to explore without the normal tourist crowds.”
