Kerzner’s boss is stepping down after 23 years with the business, including four as chief executive.
There is no immediate replacement for Alan Leibman, but Kerzner International’s chairman Mohammed Al Shaibani will oversee things until the “imminent” announcement of its new chief executive.
Philippe Zuber is also in place since last year as president and chief operating officer for One&Only Resorts, part of the Kerzner portfolio.
Kerzner International includes flagship Atlantis, The Palm in Dubai and the One&Only hotels in The Bahamas, Mexico, Mauritius, the Maldives, South Africa, Dubai and Australia, as well as Mazagan Beach & Golf Resort in Morocco.
Properties under development include One&Only resorts in Sanya, Hainan, China; Montenegro; Bahrain; and two additional resorts in Mexico.
Mohammed Al Shaibani took over as chairman from founder Sol Kerzner when Investment Corporation of Dubai bought the company from the Kerzner family and several other institutional investors two years ago.
Al Shaibani said: “On behalf of the board and all my colleagues, I would like to express my thanks to Alan for his commitment and hard work, and our appreciation of his dynamic leadership and untiring management while at the helm at Kerzner.”
Leibman said: “I am incredibly proud of all that has been accomplished at Kerzner International over the last 23 years. I believe now is the ideal time to turn my attention to other challenges and fulfilling my personal passions. I am confident the company will continue to flourish.”
