Lux Resorts & Hotels has celebrated the 10th anniversary of the brand with the opening of a new flagship hotel in Mauritius, Lux Grand Baie Resort & Residences.
Created by Mauritius-based architect Jean-Francois Adam with interiors by Kelly Hoppen, the resort is in the north of the island, and is seen as a culmination of all design, service and experience highlights of the Lux brand over the decade.
“Lux Grand Baie Resort & Residences offers stunning surprises at every turn – from the moment guests step into the expansive lobby, they will feel a load lift off their shoulders,” said general manager Ashish Modak. “From the amazing design to a perfect aperitivo at the rooftop bar and the personalised service, enhanced by The Lux Collective’s health and safety programme, Collective Care, the experience will be unparalleled.”
The resort consists of 86 Lux Junior Suites; 20 two-bedroom Lux Pool Residences; two three-bedroom Lux Pool Penthouses; seven two-bedroom Lux Pool Villas; and one three-bedroom Lux Grand Beach Pool Villa. The Lux Pool Penthouse, Lux Pool Villa and Lux Grand Beach Pool Villa all have private butler service.
Dining, drinking and lifestyle spaces include Beach Rouge, the brand’s signature beach club concept; and Ai Kisu (meaning ‘flame’ in Japanese) for Asian cuisine using warayaki straw fire cooking in an open kitchen. There is also a private club, Club Ai Kisu, home to pop-up dinner parties and sets from international DJs and local musicians alike.
European-inspired cafe Maison Lux will offer fresh, organic own-blend coffee and a selection of pastries and homemade gelato. The “jewel in the resort’s crown” is its expansive rooftop bar and restaurant Bisou which has panoramic views of the Indian Ocean.
The adults-only area is home to a 30-metre infinity pool and is surrounded by cabanas and natural greenery; at night, it becomes a lounge bar with music sets from the hotel’s resident DJ.
The resort is also home to Lux ME Spa & Fitness facilities, set over four floors with chic interiors, cutting edge technology and ancient wisdom from the East and West. Experiences include a hydrotherapy concept, Kneipp walk, Turkish Hammam and Tepidarium soaks, alongside eight treatment rooms.
For younger guests, Play is a children’s club focused on “mindfulness and modern experiences” for children between three and 12 years old. Teens have Studio 17 where they can play vintage arcade games, practice at the DJ deck or at the Photofanatics station.
Rates at Lux Grand Baie start from £400 per night based on double occupancy on a B&B basis and the resort will offer 30% off the best available rate for stays before 31 January 2022.
