The luxury operator is promoting Switzerland as a summer holiday alternative to warmer southern Europe destinations.
Carrier has introduced its Swiss Lakes & Mountains collection in response to summer availability tightening across Europe’s popular destinations and the changing demands of clients.
This new offering is designed for those seeking a cooler and quieter summer holiday retreat, in light of the unpredictable weather conditions as a result of the climate crisis.
Carrier said feedback from agents and partners indicated a promising opportunity in the Alps’ summer market, with a growing trend of clients looking for high-end summer holiday options further north.
“I strongly believe that mountain resorts as summer holiday destinations have a real future,” said Pierre Henri, head of sales and markets at Crans Montana Tourism. “When I see temperatures above 45 degrees in Italy, Spain, Portugal, and Greece, it makes me think travellers will go for cooler places in the years to come.”
While Switzerland’s winter season often takes the spotlight, the country’s culture and landscape can be enjoyed year round.
“The destination offers so much for both families and couples, from outdoor adventures and historic landmarks to beautiful alpine villages, exceptional cuisine, world-class wellness retreats, and vibrant festivals,” said Liz Goodwin, Carrier’s Europe product manager.
The Swiss summer market is also rapidly growing for Carrier, with Goodwin noting, “year to date, we are up 79% in gross revenue and 51% in total room nights”.
To support this increasing demand, Carrier has created an unbranded destination guide for its VIP agent partners to use to inspire clients with a range of activities, experiences, and accommodations.
It also includes a sample 12-day itinerary that takes travellers on a journey through Lucerne, Lugano, St. Moritz, and Zermatt, with stays at hotels such as the Mandarin Oriental Palace, Luzern and Badrutt’s Palace in St. Moritz.
