The hotel, which will be branded as the Mandarin Oriental Qianmen, Beijing, will be located in the traditional Qianmen East Hutong Quarter, close to Tiananmen Square.

The Mandarin Oriental property will be “dispersed” around the Qianmen East area alongside traditional homes, shops, restaurants, bars and cultural venues.

Facilities will include an all-day dining restaurant with a roof terrace, Chinese restaurant, lobby lounge, tea lounge and a cake shop. There will also be a spa, indoor pool and fitness centre.

James Riley, group chief executive of Mandarin Oriental, said: “Mandarin Oriental Qianmen, Beijing will offer guests a truly unique and authentic experience, combined with the attention to detail and exemplary service for which Mandarin Oriental is renowned.”

Mandarin Oriental already operates hotels in Guangzhou, Sanya and Shanghai in mainland China, as well as three Hong Kong properties and a hotel in Macau.
