Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group will open a 131-key beach resort on Mallorca in the second half of 2024, on the site of the former H10 Punta Negra hotel.
The new Mandarin Oriental Punta Negra, Mallorca will see “a significant reconstruction and redesign” of the former H10 Punta Negra hotel. It occupies a peninsula on the Costa d’en Blanes in the southwest of the island, within the Calvia municipality. Local attractions include the Puerto Portals port and the capital Palma.
The resort will be spread over three hectares of landscaped cliff tops and gardens and the 131 rooms will include 44 suites and nine bungalows. Accommodation will provide full or partial sea views, outdoor terraces or balconies, and some will offer private panoramic plunge pools.
Facilities will include a Spa at Mandarin Oriental with an indoor swimming pool, alongside three outdoor pools across the resort, a range of watersports and a children’s club.
The design is being created by Spanish architect practice HKS, Estudio Lamela, while the interior design will feature local cultural references, overseen by designer Laura Gonzalez.
James Riley, group chief executive of Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group, said the resort will be designed and constructed “with a strong sustainability ethos” and will complement the group’s existing Spanish hotels in Barcelona and Madrid.
He continued: “We are delighted at this opportunity to bring Mandarin Oriental’s legendary service to this extraordinary beachfront resort in the Balearics [and] we are extremely pleased to be expanding Mandarin Oriental’s presence into another important leisure destination in Europe.”
The resort is being developed by Spanish-based Blasson Property Investments.
