Maybourne Hotel Group has appointed Roland Fasel as chief operating officer, supporting the brand’s international expansion and overseeing the commercial success and quality of the current portfolio of hotels.
Fasel moves from his role as chief operating officer at the Aman Collection, where he has spent the last six years. He has almost 30 years of experience in the hospitality industry, which includes an eight-year tenure at The Dorchester Collection as both general manager of The Dorchester and as regional director for the brand. Fasel is also the holder of Hotels Magazine’s Hotelier of the World Award 2022.
In a statement the group said Fasel would “help spearhead a programme of international expansion.” Maybourne recently announced it will open its fourth London hotel, The Emory, this winter. The property in Old Barrack Yard is part of the Belgravia Conservation Area and will be the group’s sixth property, alongside others including Claridge’s, The Connaught and The Berkeley.
Joint chief executives Marc Socker and Gianluca Muzzi said: “Roland joins us at a crucial time in our development and growth worldwide, as well as our ongoing commitment to ensure our London hotels stay ahead of the competition. The completion of our ground-breaking building project at Claridge’s, ensuring it’s ready to face the next 200 years of its life, and the recent announcement of our fourth hotel in the capital, The Emory, highlights our desire to develop and evolve our ultra-luxury brand. Roland’s particular expertise in this field will help accelerate our plans.”
Fasel added: “This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, and indeed a huge privilege to lead such an iconic brand and legendary collection of hotels, truly the pinnacle of my career.”
