Most suites at the new 139-room property have large terraces with city views while architecture and design by the Rockwell Group incorporates natural materials and a neutral colour palette.

Previously one of the oldest perfumeries in the city, the JW Marriott, Madrid building retains some heritage features such as wrought iron columns from the 19th century. In the lobby, an exhibition features antique perfume bottles, books, and essences.

Using this background as inspiration, the hotel has also collaborated with the Spanish Academy of Perfume to create sensory experiences.

Each guest is welcomed with a traditional violet or rosemary-scented tea and can then choose from one of five ‘Madrid scents’ to be placed in their wardrobe.

‘Scent training’ workshops are also offered in which they can discover more about their preferences.

Partnering with Michelin-star chef Mario Sandoval, the JW Marriott has created dining and cocktails which highlight local ingredients and aromas.

Wellness focus

The hotel also has an Urban Oasis wellness concept.

In addition to the property’s large fitness room and wellness area, there are yoga mats provided in every room and guests have complimentary access through QR codes to video workouts and meditation practices.

Bath menus give a choice of relaxing playlists and customisable lighting.

Guests can visit the El Patio JW Garden where ingredients used by the restaurant and cocktail bar are grown and request a picnic to take to a local park.

“With each new opening, JW Marriott brings a legacy of luxury hospitality combined with the brand’s foundation of holistic well-being,” said Candice D Cruz, vice president, luxury brands, Europe, Middle East & Africa for Marriott International.

“JW Marriott Hotel Madrid captures the essence of the city and encourages guests to disconnect from stress and distractions so that they can focus on reconnecting with what matters most to them.”
