The five-star resort is part of the Adler Spa Resorts and Lodges hospitality brand, and offers 90 junior and family suites, all with private terraces.

Located on the south west coast of the island, the spa includes three Swedish saunas and 15 treatment rooms overlooking the sea. It is also home to a fitness studio, barber shop, hairdressers and relaxation area. Many of the oils, extracts and ingredients used in the therapries and beauty treatments are gathered from the resort’s gardens and local countryside.

Clients can take a dip in the freshwater infinity pool, the saltwater hydromassage pool, the thalasso pool or the 25 metre sports pool.

A small river also flows through the spa, and guests cross a bridge to access the treatment rooms. Spa manager Giulia Spitaleri Ciccarello explained: "Water is the key element connecting the spa interior to the gardens, then beyond to the Mediterranean Sea."

Describing the spa, she said: “The location is breathtaking, and the spa is flooded with natural light which creates an atmosphere of feeling close to nature, yet also with stunning views of the ocean and the sunset.

"The interiors are made of natural materials, lots of cedarwood with colourful highlights and patterns that represent Sicily’s ancient Arabic culture. The cabins are warm and welcoming with earth-toned palettes and textures that promote overall relaxation for the mind, body and soul."

Surrounding the spa are gardens which head down to a private beach and an eco-lido, which is a six kilometre beach in a sheltered bay. It has been designed to minimise the impact on the environment, and is a popular destination for sea turtles to lay their eggs.

Cuisine is influenced by the resort’s Mediterranean location, and the restaurant and al-fresco osteria use locally grown, organic and seasonal ingredients. Guests can also join cooking classes and head to nearby organic wineries for wine tastings.

The resort offers guests weekly programmes including yoga, hiking, fitness, water sports and horse-riding, and many of the daily activities are included within the all-inclusive price. It will also host regular yoga and wellbeing retreats and the AKI Kids’ Club welcomes children from four years.
