The Carlton Cannes will reopen in spring 2023 as Europe’s first new generation Regent Hotel, following a two-year, multi-million euro redevelopment.
Carlton Cannes, a Regent Hotel will become a European flagship property and part of a new era of Regent Hotels & Resorts properties.
It will offer 332 rooms and 37 branded residences, crafted by French interior designer Tristan Auer. The renovation programme has been designed to preserve the hotel’s historic features, including its legendary facade, while weaving in numerous modern elements. The property occupies the frontage of an entire city block overlooking the beachfront promenade, La Croisette.
Regent parent IHG Hotels & Resorts is working with existing partner Katara Hospitality on the project. The Qatar-based firm is the owner and developer of the Carlton Cannes.
Kenneth Macpherson, IHG regional chief executive for Europe, the Middle East, Asia and Africa, said: “With a long history of hosting royalty, dignitaries and stars of stage and screen, the Carlton Cannes is one of the world’s most iconic hotels. It is an icon of Riviera glamour, and we look forward to working with strategic partner Katara Hospitality to bring the reimagined Regent experience to life at the Carlton Cannes. This is just the start of our ambition to grow the brand further across Europe.”
Regent joined IHG in 2018 and is part of the brand’s Luxury & Lifestyle Collection. IHG has set out its intentions to reimagine the Regent brand, opening the new-build Regent Phu Quoc in Vietnam in April. It followed the renovations of Regent Chongqing and Regent Shanghai in 2021. Regent Hong Kong will return to Victoria Harbour by the end of 2022 after a full renovation and the Regent Bali will open in early 2023.
