Belmond has revealed details of eight new suites planned for the legendary train, with the additions set to launch in June 2023
The suites will sit alongside the two existing cabin categories, the historic cabins and the grand suites.
The new suites will be housed in two original carriages, which have been restored by French craftsmen and designers. They will have a marble ensuite bathroom and a lounging area that can be converted to double or twin beds at night.
The interiors will focus on four different designs: La Campagne (the countryside), Les Montagnes (the mountains), Les Lacs (the lakes), and La Foret (the forest).
The La Foret suites echo the Black Forest, as the train travels through the mountainous south-west region of Germany when travelling from Prague to Paris.
The La Campagne suites are adorned with vivid velvet greens and intricate flower marquetry, inspired by the pastures and vineyards of northern Italy and the vistas of southern France.
Those staying in the Les Montagnes suites will see designs influenced by Austria’s Arlberg massif, which can be spotted on the train’s classic route to Venice.
While guests in a Les Lacs suite will notice designs reflecting Lake Zug in Switzerland and Lake Como in Italy.
A spokesperson said: “Each suite will immerse guests in diverse European scenery through glorious colours, patterns and textures. Plush fabrics and furnishings will channel famed Art Deco designers, such as Majorelle, Dufrene, Leleu, Rousseau, Prou and Lalique.
“The interiors are a celebration of European landscapes and the surrounding abundance of nature; the arable plains with their swathes of vineyards, the ancient forests of central Europe, the sharp rise of mountain ranges and smooth glacial lakes.”
Venice Simplon-Orient-Express travels through Europe from March to November and traverses from Paris to Istanbul once a year.
Lead-in rates for the suites start at £5,500, including a personal 24-hour cabin steward, amenities, and a complimentary kimono and slippers.
