Waldorf Astoria Seychelles Platte Island has opened in the Seychelles, marking the brand’s first foray into the Indian Ocean archipelago.
Featuring 50 seafront villas with personal concierge services, the interiors of the one-, two- and three-bedroom properties – plus a master five-bedroom villa – are inspired by the resort’s tropical island location, while their shapes reflect the peaked shell of a hawksbill turtle, which nests on the island’s beaches.
Guests can experience the island’s rich marine life on a range of curated experiences with a resident marine biologist including coral planting, guided snorkelling, and dolphin- and whale-watching trips.
Six restaurants and bars offer a range of international and local cuisine, with executive head chef Jane-Therese Mulry serving up Creole-Latin fusion food at Maison Des Epices, including tapas, oysters, and champagne. There will be Asian and Mediterranean inspired offerings at day-to-night restaurant La Perle and pool and beach bar Torti. Private dining, cooking and mixology classes are also offered to guests as part of the resort’s culinary experience.
Key to the resort, The Waldorf Astoria Spa offers treatments using local sustainable ingredients such as organic seaweed and coconut, alongside a programme of yoga, guided meditation and mindfulness sessions. There’s also a Technogym workout centre, open air fitness studio and tennis facilities.
Alongside large villas with multiple bedrooms, families are well catered for with The Sea Scouts Kids Club and Marine Mavericks Teens Club featuring a full programme of marine-themed activities plus a silent disco, an island escape room, bonfire storytelling and cooking classes.
Hilton has four existing properties in the Seychelles including Mango House and Hilton Seychelles Labriz Resort & Spa, with Canopy by Hilton Seychelles due to open later this year.
“We’re excited to introduce the Waldorf Astoria brand to the Seychelles – creating a unique destination that beautifully integrates luxury hospitality with the natural beauty of Platte Island,” said Hilton’s president for the Middle East and Africa, Guy Hutchinson.
“The resort provides unforgettable experiences for guests and features eco-programmes and partnerships, led by the island’s specialist marine biologist, which aims to preserve and protect the surrounding nature and marine life at this outstanding resort destination,” he added.
