Wilderness Safaris has teamed up with Qatar Airways to encourage bookings back to Africa, as well as helping to enhance conservation efforts.
As part of the partnership, the African camp specialist will plant 40 indigenous saplings for every Qatar Airways’ booking, which will help to restore land within the crucial “buffer zone” of Volcanoes National Park in Rwanda.
The trees will be sourced from locally owned nurseries and community members will be hired to plant them.
Qatar Airways’ passengers will also take part in conservation experiences at selected Wilderness camps, while the two companies will collaborate on developing photography, videos and articles to promote the experiences offered by the two brands.
“We are thrilled to be partnering with Qatar Airways to not only incentivise air travel, but to also encourage our guests to return to Africa and stay at our Wilderness camps, while supporting critical conservation efforts on behalf of the communities and regions in which we operate,” said Amanda Wilson, vice president, partnerships, at Wilderness Safaris.
“With Qatar Airways recently expanding its routes into African destinations, such as Harare and Lusaka, Wilderness and Qatar Airways can work together to drive travel as a force for good, continuing to support the protection of the world’s most precious wild areas and wildlife.”
