Aer Lingus will restart direct flights to Barbados from Manchester next month following a jump in demand.
The Irish carrier will operate the route three times a week starting 1 November. Return fares lead in from £498pp.
Aer Lingus has in recent years increased its focus on long-haul operations at Manchester, expanding its Orlando route to four-times-weekly and its New York service to daily.
It follows a 30% year-on-year uptick in demand for flights from Manchester from travellers in the Greater Manchester area and north of England.
In response, Aer Lingus has put extra capacity into the airport this year by replacing one of its single-aisle aircraft at Manchester with a second wide-body aircraft.
Additional Aer Lingus capacity at Manchester will this year total 63,000 seats.
“Passengers in the north are able to fly directly from Manchester to destinations as varied as America, Barbados and, of course, Dublin with Aer Lingus,” said Manchester airport chief executive Andrew Cowan.
“This partnership helps us connect the north with the world, and we’re looking forward to continuing and building on this in the years to come.”
Aer Lingus, which has flown half a million passengers since it set up at Manchester in October 2021, also plans to increase services to the US next year from Dublin with new Denver services and the resumption of direct flights to Minneapolis-St Paul in the spring.
