Travel agents have shared their disappointment at the news Eurostar will stop running its direct London St Pancras to Disneyland Paris service from June next year, saying they hope the train operator reverses its decision.
The Channel Tunnel service, which runs from London to Marne-la-Vallee train station close to the theme park, will halt early next June ahead of the summer school holidays.
London-based travel agents said the loss of the service will be a big disappointment for families. "Disneyland Paris is obviously a family favourite and it really is a blow for family holidays in particular,” said Charlie Panton from Putney Travel.
“We always encourage our customers to travel by train and we really hope Eurostar changes its mind by next year."
Diane Coleman from Tickets Travel in Bexley said the lack of a direct rail route will be off-putting for young families in particular as it complicates travel to the theme park."We’ve benefitted from the service personally with Ebbsfleet close by," she said.
"It made it very easy for families to go to Disneyland Paris on the Eurostar and lots of families will be disappointed. It’s definitely an inconvenience. We hope they decide to reinstate the service."
Advantage Travel Partnership chief executive Julia Lo Bue-Said echoed the agents’ sentiment: “This is such disappointing news," she said. "I have used the service many times over the years with my own children, as have many millions of British families.”
“This appears to be another example of the fallout from Brexit for travelling Brits, and possibly the pandemic, but I remain hopeful that given the UK is a key source market to Disneyland Paris some pragmatic thinking and practical solutions will prevail,” she added.
