Air India is ramping up its summer schedule from the UK with extra Heathrow, Gatwick and Birmingham frequencies, although the carrier also plans to suspend one of its Gatwick routes.
The carrier will add another three frequencies to its Delhi-Heathrow route, growing the service to 24 weekly flights. Air India will operate the route using its flagship A350-900 aircraft and upgraded B787-9s.
Elsewhere, Air India will serve Amritsar four times a week from Birmingham and Gatwick, up from three, and Ahmedabad five times a week from Gatwick, also up from three.
However, its non-stop Kochi-Gatwick service will cease from 30 March "until further notice". Air India cited efforts to upgrade older aircraft for its decision to pause the Kochi-Gatwick route.
In a statement, Air India said: "Arising from the retrofit programme and consequent temporary reduction in the operational fleet, the airline will suspend its non-stop Mumbai-Melbourne service between 30 March and 13 September 2025, and the non-stop Kochi-London Gatwick route from 30 March 2025 until further notice."
“Air India will continue to operate 12 weekly flights to London Gatwick from Amritsar, Ahmedabad and Goa," it added.
Last year, Air India completed a merger with rival Vistara, and confirmed Singapore Airlines had made a significant investment in the newly combined carrier.
