The August bank holiday weekend will see 900 fewer flights leave the UK compared to 2019 after airlines removed departures from their schedules.
Aviation analytics firm Cirium estimates there will be 14,030 flights from the UK during the period 26-30 August, equating to 2.45 million seats. The reduction means there will be nearly 138,000 fewer seats available.
British Airways has removed the largest number of departures – almost 380 – from schedules as it struggles with staffing issues at Heathrow and within its own ranks.
BA was followed by Flybe, which has taken out more than 130 flights since 1 July, and by easyJet, which has removed around 90 services.
Cirium also examined departures during the period of 23-27 August and found a 21% drop in capacity compared to 2019.
