Austria has become the latest country to remove all remaining Covid-19 travel curbs.
As of Monday (16 May), travellers no longer need to present proof upon entry of vaccination against Covid-19, proof of recovery from the infection, or evidence of a recent a negative test for Covid.
The new rules will apply to arrivals from all countries, who will be granted entry regardless of their vaccination status.
Previously, fully vaccinated travellers had to provide evidence of their jabs, or proof of recovery from a recent Covid infection.
Alternatively, they could enter on the basis of a negative PCR test for Covid-19 taken within 72 hours of travel, or a negative LFT or antigen test taken up to 24 hours prior to travel.
Austria’s decision mirrors many of its EU neighbours, with a number of member states relaxing their Covid entry restrictions in recent weeks. Spain, though, on Monday, confirmed its curbs would continue to apply for another month until 15 June.
The EU has also relaxed its rules on the wearing of face masks in-flight, although member states are free to set their own rules on masks and override the EU guidance.
