A competition launched today (7 March) offers agents the chance to visit Norway with Avis and TTG
Avis Budget Group is one of five supplier partners for the yearlong TTG Sustainable Travel Heroes initiative and so will be offering travel agents the opportunity to join a sustainability-focused fam trip later this year.
Agents attending the fam trip to Norway will travel from Oslo to Tromso by electric vehicle and enjoy a foodie walking tour, snorkelling, a farmhouse stay, a cooking class and husky sledding en route. There are also plans being made for agents to sample a Hurtigruten cruise as part of the itinerary.
The aim of the fam trip is to showcase how car hire can be a sustainable addition to a holiday and so in turn inspire agents to sell more responsible itineraries, as well as educate them on how to do so.
“Renting a car allows customers to travel off the beaten track and visit destinations that are less concentrated with tourism, therefore supporting local communities and economies,” said Sophie Nelson, travel and partnerships manager at Avis Budget Group.
“These locations we’ll visit aren’t Instagrammed locations; they’re places people haven’t seen before and so this provides a different source of adventure.”
Nelson said the experience will be the “trip of a lifetime”, adding: “We’re all on a journey to be more sustainable and we hope this trip will be just the beginning of showcasing what a sustainable holiday could look like”.
