The Association of Women Travel Executives (AWTE) has named three new members to its board as the organisation looks towards its 70th anniversary in the coming year.
Debbie O’Neil, general manager at Jules Verne, joins in the newly created position of development director, tasked with providing a support network for members, while Scenic Group’s trade sales chief Andrea Stafford becomes events director.
Also joining AWTE’s board is Jessica Simpson, head of partnerships at Travel Gossip, who will support its growth of membership in her new role as membership director.
Lindsay Garvey-Jones, who remains chair alongside vice-chair Michelle Laverick, said the association had worked hard to provide “even more value" for members across a range of new activities and initiatives, with a particular focus around diversity, equity and inclusion (ED&I)
Garvey-Jones said the position of development director has been created to highlight the importance of positive wellbeing and confidence, as well as focus on health-related issues such as menopause, stress and burnout.
AWTE is also set to expand its male allyship programme as it looks to ensure everyone working in the industry has their voices heard.
“The next 12 months will see us celebrate our 70th anniversary and will have a selection of special events across the UK to mark the success and longevity of the association," said Garvey-Jones. "I’d also like to take this opportunity to say thank you all our members, trade partners and trade media for their continued support over the years."
