British Airways has withdrawn its Book with Confidence policy with immediate effect.
It means customers will no longer be able to make free changes to BA flights and holidays booked from Wednesday (8 June onwards). BA said the policy was a temporary Covid-era measure, and stressed "the vast majority" of its tickets were flexible.
The policy was introduced amid the onset of Covid-19 more than two years ago, with BA claiming it was necessary to bring the policy to an end now it was ramping up its schedule again.
BA said customers would remain eligible if their journey was booked on or before 7 June 2022 and is due to be completed (departure and return) by 30 September 2022.
Anyone due to travel after 30 September 2022 or who booked on or after 8 June 2022 can log into the Manage My Booking section of the BA website to see the options available to them.
Standard amendment and cancellation fees will be applicable to all new flight bookings made from Wednesday.
A BA spokesperson said: "We offer a wide range of fares to give greater choice to our customers, and the vast majority of our tickets already provide flexibility. If a customer’s flight is cancelled, we’ll always offer them a range of options including a full refund."
The airline added it was "moving away" from its Book with Confidence policy as it "continued to ramp up" its schedule.
"If new rules are introduced by a country that prevents or restricts travel due to Covid-19, we will always review the requirements and aim to ensure we provide the necessary support and flexibility to our customers," the airline added.
