Barrhead Travel founder and chairman Bill Munro has left the business, US-based owners Travel Leaders Group has confirmed.
In a statement, Ninan Chacko, Travel Leaders chief executive, said: “We are grateful to Bill for all he has done over the years to build the Barrhead brand and a quality management team.”
Munro founded the Glasgow-based travel agency chain in 1975 with the business now stretching to more than 70 shops stores UK-wide.
Travel Leaders Group acquired Barrhead in February this year for an undisclosed sum.
Prior to the takeover, Munro served in a non-operating strategic advisory role at Barrhead.
Munro’s daughter, Sharon Munro, remains chief executive of the business.
