Hays Travel acquires Holiday with Us
Sarah DennisHays Travel has acquired the Holiday with Us Group and its three stores in March, Spalding and Wisbech.
The stores will trade as Hays Travel from 10 January.
The acquisition marks the the first announced by Hays this year, following those of south Wales miniple Travel House and its 16 branches in November 2023, and 45 Just Go Travel branches in September.
The news follows a record-breaking Sunshine Saturday for Hays Travel, which marked its best trading day ever in its 43-year history last weekend. Hays Travel boss Dame Irene Hays was quick to praise the excitement and motivation of her team on the day, telling TTG trading at both acquisitions had “gone very well” last weekend.
Six full-time equivalent staff will join Hays Travel under the acquisition of Holiday with Us, including owner Christina Fitzpatrick, who established the business in 2009, as branch manager. Hays is looking to recruit for more staff in all three branches, encouraging both experienced agents and people looking to change careers to apply.
Fitzpatrick said: “I have loved running my own travel business, but now is the right time for me to step back a little to focus on my young family. The new arrangement means I can stay in travel and will continue to work alongside my excellent team, who I know will thrive within the Hays Travel family.”
Dame Irene added: “We welcome Christina and her team to Hays Travel. In Holiday with Us Group, Christina has established a high-quality business, and we are delighted that she is staying on with us to ease the transition for customers and staff.
“Located in the Lincolnshire and Cambridgeshire area, the branches are in an excellent area for Hays Travel, and we are confident that this latest acquisition fits well with our strategic ambitions and offers good of potential for growth.”
