Plans to expand Bristol airport will go ahead after an appeal put forward by the Bristol Airport Action Network (BAAN) was rejected by the Court of Appeal.
The court decided to uphold the planning permission to increase the airport’s capacity from 10 million to 12 million passengers per annum after BAAN’s permission to appeal was refused on all grounds.
A Bristol airport spokesperson said the decision was "excellent news" for the region’s economy, allowing the airport to create "thousands" of new jobs in the years ahead and open up new direct links.
"We will now take forward our multimillion-pound plans for net-zero operations by 2030 and look forward to working with stakeholders and the community to deliver responsible growth," they added.
Stephen Clarke, a co-ordinator for BAAN, said: "I am naturally very disappointed and angry about this decision.
"What [Bristol airport] must understand though is that we are not going away; on the contrary, we will be energised by this decision and will take the fight to a national level."
