British Airways will double its service to San Diego next summer with the addition of a second daily Heathrow flight.
BA’s expanded service to San Diego International will take off in April – the first time BA has offered two daily San Diego flights.
The additional daily frequency will depart Heathrow at 3pm, complementing BA’s existing 12.15pm departure to the city in California. Heathrow-San Diego is BA’s longest US flight route.
Julie Coker, president and chief executive of the San Diego Tourism Authority, said the additional flights would create more opportunities for British travellers to visit the city.
"The partnership between British Airways and San Diego demonstrates a continued commitment to bringing our people even closer,” said Coker.
Coker continued: "With this additional daily flight from April 2024, we look forward to welcoming even more travellers from the UK. We have proven time and time again to be a hugely popular destination year-round, and we cannot wait to welcome even more visitors next year.”
Neil Chernoff, BA director of networks and alliances, added the extra flights would "further support the growth of business and leisure travel in the city" and "demonstrated BA’s commitment to the region".
"This new frequency will offer more options and convenience for our customers and is a welcome addition to our California schedule."
