British Airways will up the frequency on its Heathrow-Newark route to three times daily in June with a new daytime return from the Big Apple.
Outbound flights will depart Heathrow at 7.10pm, with returns scheduled to depart Newark at 7.55am. The additional flight will launch on 6 June.
BA said the service would allow travellers to spend an extra night in New York or an extra day in London, whether for business or leisure.
The route will be operated using a Boeing 777-200 aircraft featuring 48 Club World seats, 40 World Traveller Plus and 184 World Traveller.
BA will also resume its daylight Heathrow-JFK service in March.
The changes mean BA, along with joint business partner American Airlines (AA), will offer 15 daily New York departures this summer – 11 Heathrow-JFK services, one Gatwick-JFK and three Heathrow-Newark.
BA’s Gatwick-JFK service will resume from 28 May.
From April, all BA/AA Heathrow flights to JFK and Newark will depart from Terminal 5, and by next year, all BA flights from JFK will depart Terminal 8 – home to AA’s operations at JFK.
Neil Chernoff, BA director of networks and alliances, said: “The convenient morning departure is popular with customers who might prefer having an extra night in New York, or arriving in London in the evening to start their following day more refreshed.
"As we continue to co-locate our New York and London operations with American Airlines, we will provide a more seamless journey for our customers allowing them to access our combined 15 daily departures."
