British Colonial Nassau has set up a dedicated trade sales team for the UK and Ireland ahead of its reopening in December.
The hotel announced on Wednesday (5 July) it will use hotel representation service provider Silva Lining to help raise the brand’s profile, educating agents on product offering as well as providing them with incentives and training sessions.
“In the run up to the official opening, we want to support the UK market by boosting the brand’s presence and ensuring key sellers understand its proposition,” said Silva Lining director Suzy Trott. “We have lots of trade focused initiatives planned to clearly define the property and we will certainly introduce agent educational tools such as training sessions and booking incentives to drive an understanding of the product for sales conversion.”
Her remarks were echoed by the hotel’s director of sales and marketing, Keely Murphy, who said that establishing the brand with the trade is “key to growth”.
Over 100 years old, the hotel was forced to shut down in February 2022 due to the pandemic’s severe impact on bookings, leaving more than 100 members of staff out of work and ceasing to operate under the Hilton banner.
Bahamian deputy prime minister Chester Cooper nevertheless said in May that parts of the property will reopen this summer, according to local news website Eye Witness News.
