A British man was among the 72 passengers and crew onboard a Yeti Airlines flight which crashed en route to Pokhara on Sunday (15 January).
The person was initially described as Irish by authorities in Nepal, but the BBC reports the man is understood to have been travelling on a UK passport.
An extensive search and rescue operation has been ongoing since Sunday, but there are not believed to be any survivors of the crash.
The aircraft, an ATR72 turboprop, was flying from capital Kathmandu to the tourist town of Pokhara. The Foreign Office is providing the man’s family consular support.
"We are supporting the family of a British man who has died in Nepal and are in contact with the local authorities," the BBC reports an FCDO spokesperson as saying.
The crash is believed to be the country’s deadliest for 30 years.
